Re: MIG Decastar 135E You are correct, the 1or 2, and min max are the power settings, play with them a little, it will have 4 heats available, they set the voltage - it could be measured by a volt meter, should be somewhere between 15 and 24 volts. The amps are set by the wire speed, that is the knob. DECASTAR 135E - 120 Amp - 230V 50Hz (Torch DE13) Cod. Had brand new back door last year and o/s front wing.hes just motd it.
I have not used one, but have seen them at Princess. Without taking it apart the only thing that didn't impress me was the gun and that 'inner tube rubber' covering the guns hose and liner. My 2003 catalogue says $630 for the welder and $70 for the reg. For a total of $690.
My 230 volt Hobart Handler 175 only cost $770 Canadian with reg., cart and a real nice gun with 10' leads. The best price I could find on a 120volt HH135 was around $620 with reg. If I remember correctly, Deca welders are sold in the U.S. Under the Ryobi(spelling?) name, if you want to search for any quality issues.Good Luck. Does princess sell Hobart. I had a catalog at one time?? A 185 Clarke or whatever size they are cheaper if you want to stay on the bottom and there are lots of dealers.
Auto parts stores carry them. I would trade up to a HH175 if Princess would do it for a couple reasons, a big one bing there are thousands of dealers for consumables and or parts. Plus its going to weld considerably better. Every welding supply will have tips, a liner, etc. It wont be a big dust collector the first problem that occurs and likely wont have a problem for a long time. There was a thread earlier about the same thing regarding Sears electric power tools.
Next week you dont have any idea who made it. The price difference from the cheap to the really good isnt so vast that it makes the good one a much better investment.
UpdateAfter useing the decastar for a few weeks now i have come to the conclusion that i will keep it great price and so far it has been great to use. Havn't used it with gas yet but so far i would recommend it to anyone looking for a light to medium duty welder. If you live in canada check one out at princess auto and give it a try you can always take it back to princess auto the never have a problem with returns. Only concern which has been raised on this podt if the quality of the gun it does seem a little flimsy but everything else on the welder is quality and well put together weighing almost 70 pounds. ReplyYa i know what you mean about the owners manual it does tell much about it at all. I do know that you will need gas to use as a mig welder but use can use the flux core option as well with this model very eay to switch between the two.
This welder can be used at ryobi.com/au for further details. Give me a shout if you have any more questions.
In my case i use this welder for smaller applications such as equitment repair and medium fabrication. So far my only complaint is the mig gun seems a little flimsy.
