The old Denon CD players do indeed have a nice magic to them. I was doubtful initially as well until I compared them directly. At the time I was considering a nice player from Cambridge, a new top of the line Sony or Marantz or the Denon. I ended up with a lightly used Denon DCD 1560 CD Player. To this day, I am very happy with it. So yes the Denon DCD 1560 remains a keeper after 14 years since it was new. This is one of audios most enduring products that keeps delivering the promise and few products can make that statement years down the road. Pure value for the money.

Cleaning my closet! For sale, a one-owner Denon DCD-1650AR CD player. It is in every way in mint condition, except for a propensity for the loading drawer to occasionally retract when I push the open drawer button (it opens all the way, then closes). This doesn't happen often, but it has happened. Otherwise, this is a great CD player, built like a tank (weighing in at about 30 pounds). It works well also as a CD transport and is, in my opinion, one of the best transports available for under $2K. It comes with both Coaxial and Optical digital outputs.
It also has fixed and variable analog outputs. The Variable analog output allows this CD player to be plugged directly into an amplifier. As a CD player, it has a nice, natural sound as Denon uses what they call their 'Alpha' processing D/A converters.
These work beautifully to produce near-analog quality sound from standard 44.1 CDs.This CD player was purchased new by myself back in about 1997/1998 time frame. It has been used sporadically over the past 5 or 6 years. I did pull it out and use it for a month recently to confirm that it is still mint functionally; it is. (Other than the aforementioned).
Word of warning: this CD player will play CDRs, but it will NOT play CDRWs, or MP3s.If you're interested, I also have the matching mini-disc player/recorder (Denon DMD-1650) which was never, to the best of my knowledge, available in the USA. I carried it home from Japan while on a business trip.
I can offer it for sale bundled with the CD player.I accept Paypal (plus 3% to cover fees), cashiers checks, personal checks or money orders. Shipping weight will be around 40 pounds. Allow about $40 for shipping and insurance. Please feel free to ask questions.
